This is one of those stand out house plants, showing off it's striking dark leaves contrasted by silvery - white veins running through, leaves which can astonishingly grow up to 30cm. All of which makes this plant a very desirable addition to your indoor habitat.

Watering

Alocasia Polly are exotic plants that are accustomed to a rain forest floor, they love a humid, moist environments. This mean they like frequent watering (roughly weekly) & misting (every couple days) to match their native environment. Keeping the soil moist not wet is ideal, allowing the top 2 inches of soil to dry out between watering's to prevent root rot issues using additives such as <BioBizz Root-Juice> can also help. This plant does not tolerate drought conditions.

 

Fertilizer

In order to facilitate vigorous growth regular feeding every second water (roughly fortnightly) during spring - autumn will keep these plant growing optimally. <Insert houseplant feed link>. During the plants dormant period in winter one or two feeds will suffice.

Light intensity

Alocasia Polly isn't at all keen on direct sunlight, bright indirect sunlight is what this one is after.

Substrate & pH

These plants like a well draining soil such as <Edie's Mix - Well Draining> and are most at home in a slightly acidic soil (5.5 - 6.9 pH).

Ideal temperature & humidity

Coming from a tropical rainforest environment these plant like it warm, they're quite at home...at home - your home. However they do like it slightly humid so a tickle with a water spray every couple days will make them feel right at home.

 

Pruning & repotting

Alocasia Polly will grow fairly fast in the optimum conditions so repotting every two to three years will help them maintain that growth rate. In terms of pruning nothing to vigorous is necessary just removing dead or dying leaves will suffice. 
 

Pests & diseases

The unwanted inhabitants of this plant can include; <mealybugs>, <spider mites>, <scale> & <thrips>. These pests are able to find a home in the recesses on the underside of the leaves.
